Strengthen Train and Empower Potential of Students - STEPS Project

The Strengthen Train and Empower Potential of Students (STEPS) project was a comprehensive initiative aimed at promoting the psycho-social development of students. The project was implemented by a team of dedicated professionals who worked tirelessly to provide students with the support they needed to become confident, capable, and wellrounded individuals. The project was focused on 30 students from the GVHSS Kalpakanchery, who were identified as in need of additional support to reach their full potential. 

The project team organized a range of activities, including life skill camps, mathematical skill development, remedial education, theatre workshops, residential camps, psychohealing sessions, individual counselling programs, parent training programs, and home visits. These activities aimed to help students to develop their social, emotional, and cognitive skills and provide them with a nurturing environment that would support their growth and development.

Objectives

MILES SHERO Project

The MILES SHERO Project is an initiative of the Moopen Institute for Local Empowerment (MILES), which aims to promote women empowerment and social inclusion in Malappuram district, Kerala. The project was launched with the objective of providing women in the district with the necessary skills, resources, and support to start and run their own businesses, gain employment, and lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

The project has implemented various activities, including vocational training programs, entrepreneurship training programs, psychological support programs, SHG support programs, and life skill training programs. These programs have been designed to address the diverse needs of women in the district, and to provide them with a range of opportunities for personal and professional development.

Through its various activities, the MILES SHERO project has sought to address the challenges faced by women in the district, such as limited access to education and employment opportunities, and the prevalence of gender-based discrimination and violence. The project has focused on empowering women by providing them with the necessary skills, resources, and support to overcome these challenges and lead self-determined lives.

Objectives

Counselling and Guidance Cell (CGC)

The Counselling and Guidance cell (CGC) project of Miles is an initiative aimed at promoting community mental health and overall well-being.

The project recognizes the importance of mental health in the development and growth of individuals and communities. Mental health problems can affect people of all ages and backgrounds, and they can have a significant impact on the social, economic, and health outcomes of individuals and communities.

The CGC project aims to address the mental health needs of the community by providing counseling and guidance services, conducting training programs, and organizing community interventions.

The project operates in Kalpakanchery Panchayath, a rural area in Kerala, India, with a population of over 45,000 people. The CGC project focuses on providing services to individuals and families who may not have access to mental health services due to financial, social, or cultural barriers.

The project is committed to promoting the wellbeing of the community and creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals and families.

Employability and Educational Empowerment Project

The Employability and Educational Empowerment Project is an innovative initiative focused on empowering the youth of Malappuram district. It aims to bridge the gap between youth and employment opportunities by providing necessary skills, knowledge, and guidance. The project’s primary objective is to enhance employability skills and improve educational opportunities for the youth. With components such as PSC exam coaching, scholarship training programs, and IAS coaching sponsorship, the project caters to diverse needs and prepares youth for the competitive world. By investing in the future of the youth, the project aims to create a better society.

The MILES Pravasi Mithra project is a development initiative aimed at supporting expatriates who have returned to India. The project is focused on providing a range of services and resources to help expatriates integrate back into their home communities and develop sustainable livelihoods.

The M A Moopen School for Special Needs is a dedicated institution established under the trust of Dr. Moopen’s Family Foundation. Led by Padma Shri Dr. M. Azad Moopen as the Managing Trustee, the school focuses on rehabilitating and educating mentally challenged children. With special education at the core of our curriculum, our team of trained educators and therapists provide personalized attention and innovative teaching techniques to maximize each child’s potential. We also emphasize vocational training, speech therapy, physiotherapy, and sports and cultural activities to promote holistic development. Our goal is to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where each child’s unique abilities are recognized and celebrated, empowering them to lead meaningful lives.
